Mission

The mission of the Global Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness across the globe.  

 

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we envision a worldwide movement of disciples who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly. Jesus calls us to love God wholeheartedly and our neighbors as ourselves, and we strive to embody His extravagant love in all we do.

 

We are entrusted with a lifesaving, transforming message and are committed to sharing the whole counsel of God with all peoples—boldly, fearlessly, and with unwavering faith.

 

Rooted in Scripture and led by the Spirit, we seek to advance God’s Kingdom in every culture and community. As a global church, we value the gifts of every member, walking together in mutual love, humility, and service—especially toward the vulnerable—as we partner in God’s mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ and transform the world.

History

The Global Methodist Church officially launched on May 1, 2022, formed by faithful Christians seeking to preserve the doctrinal integrity of the historic Christian faith—especially the authority of Scripture—and to offer a vibrant witness to the transforming power of Jesus Christ.

 

Grounded in the Wesleyan tradition, the Global Methodist Church emphasizes scriptural holiness, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the life-changing grace of God available to all. We believe in making disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.

 

From its inception, the Church has operated in a transitional season, prayerfully preparing for its first Convening General Conference, held in September 2024. That gathering marked a pivotal step in establishing our governance and global mission.

Our church is guided by the Book of Doctrines and Discipline, which outlines our core beliefs, connectional structure, and practices. It is a living document that will continue to grow and mature as the Church grows. You can find the most recent version in the Doctrinal Resources section of our website.

 

The Global Methodist Church exists to spread scriptural holiness across the globe and to carry forward the faith once delivered to the saints.

Beliefs and governance

Since its inception, God’s Spirit has enlivened the Methodist movement. In the 1720s John and Charles Wesley and friends at Oxford University met together to deepen their Christian faith through daily, practical spiritual disciplines. Derided by others as a “new sect of Methodists” for their “methodical” ways of practicing the faith and holding one another accountable to it, the small group embraced the insult and persevered in their fellowship. And so they and the millions who followed after them have ever since been known as “the people called Methodists.”

In that spirit, this Book of Doctrines and Discipline of the Global Methodist Church is intended to serve as a resource for all who wish to join in a “methodical,” practical, and warm-hearted pursuit of loving God and serving others as Jesus’ disciples in the world. Beginning with confessions rooted in Scripture and shaped by the great teaching of the Church universal, the Transitional Book of Doctrines and Discipline provides the essential structure for the Global Methodist Church from its official launch on May 1, 2022 until its convening General Conference twelve to eighteen months later. It is offered with the prayer that it will help guide us in a new season of the church’s life as we make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.
