Volunteer Information

We love our Volunteers!

At Wilmington Island United Methodist Church, we welcome and encourage everyone to share their gifts and talents! We would love to have you participate in the Children's Ministry in a way that you feel comfortable and assists our children grow in their love and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Opportunities are available to teach or assist Sunday mornings, Sunday afternoons, and for special events.

We, as a congregation, express our absolute and unwavering commitment to the physical safety, emotional well-being and spiritual growth of all our children. To do so, we have adopted a Safe Sanctuaries policy to protect all children that come to us, to protect both our paid and volunteer staff from potiential false allegations of abuse and to limit the legal liability of our church. We require everyone who works with our children and youth to be certified through the Safe Sanctuaries process.

Volunteer schedules are created on a yearly basis. A copy of the schedule is in the hall outside the CM office. Weekly reminders are emailed out on Morning mornings.

SAFE SANCTUARIES

In April 1996, The General Conference of the United Methodist Church adopted a resolution aimed at reducing the risk of child abuse in the church. Our mission here at Wilmington Island United Methodist Church is to provide a safe, caring environment for children, youth and vulnerable adults and those involved in ministering to such persons in all phases of the church’s life. We express an unwavering commitment to the physical safety and spiritual growth of all who enter our church. Therefore, we follow reasonable measures in the selection and recruitment of workers and we implement prudent operational procedures in all programs and events within the church.
